About the Program
The PGY2 HSPAL Residency Program is based at Hartford Hospital and includes both local and system components. The PGY2 resident will collaborate with the Hartford Hospital leadership team, working closely with the director, managers, and supervisors. Additionally, the resident will be part of the System Support Office (SSO) pharmacy team, which includes the System VP of Pharmacy, Clinical and Operations Program Managers, 340B and purchasing Managers, and Medication Safety Office, among others. The SSO team supports pharmacy departments across the system.
The PGY2 HSPAL resident will gain management and leadership experience on both the system and local levels, participating in initiatives, learning experiences, and projects within Hartford Hospital and across Hartford HealthCare. The resident will complete both required and elective learning experiences, and will participate in longitudinal professional development, staffing/manager on call, and research experiences.
Residency Program Purpose
PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.
