PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency

About the Program

The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Program is based at Hartford Hospital.  The PGY2 Resident will complete learning experiences in anticoagulation, HIV management, cardiometabolic clinic, primary care, and ambulatory care pharmacy leadership.  The resident will also complete a research project, design and present an ACPE-accredited continuing education program, and complete a business plan related to a new or expansion of ambulatory care services. The resident will then implement the business plan as their service project.

Residency Program Purpose

PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.

What attracted you to Hartford Hospital? While researching PGY-2 ambulatory care programs, I was drawn to the diverse and unique rotation opportunities available at Hartford Hospital. During the interview process, I was impressed by the supportive culture and the program’s genuine commitment to resident education and wellness. I also valued the program’s flexibility and willingness to adapt the schedule to ensure exposure to areas that align with my interests.
